CAS Activity-8 Reflection

My classmates and I were called upon to hone our agility as we participated in a school organized aerobics session in the middle of the afternoon, It turned out to be a surprise session, as none of had the slightest clue that we were going to be moving about on the soccer pitch.

Perhaps I should have had a slightly less heavy lunch that as I noticed I was fairly sluggish to start off. When I think of aerobics the first thing that pops into my head in a swift form of yoga of sorts, but boy was I wrong. It turned out aerobics is virtually synonymous with dance. I'm not the greatest dancer to say the least, so naturally I wasn't very confident in carrying out the moves that our dance coordinator taught us.

As time wore on I became increasingly loo

se and to my own astonishment I started dancing with some passion. Before I knew it I was a passable dancer! I entrenched myself in the rhythm of the beat and let loose. It was an eye-opening experience for me, as I had overcome one of my biggest fears, at least temporarily that is.

In short the aerobics session was a great way to blow off some steam and served as a great learning experience which I will carry with me the next time I'm asked to conquer one of my fears.Things aren't as always as bad as they seem. Take a deep breath relax and take whatever life may throw at you in stride.

CAS Activity-7 Reflection

The third annual Soccer Challenge hosted by The Indian Public School (TIPS) Coimbatore was one to remember. Our class, IB DP Year 1 were bestowed with the opportunity to organize the prestigious event, which includes over half a dozen participating schools, spanned over three days and included a bevy of trophies. The Soccer Challenge is for aspiring footballers aged 9-12 years to show off their skills while having a lot of fun doing so.

I was apart of the "Arrangements" team, My specific responsibility was to collect the team sheets from the match officials, locate the participating teams' head coaches, have them fill in their line-up and finally return them for the players to have their names announced.

With the Footballing extravaganza lasting the better part of three full days I often found myself facing long bouts of boredom, exhaustion and weariness. What kept me going was that the event was for a good cause. Our school was generous enough to donate a bag packed full of supplies to every participating child from an under-privileged school. The look of glee as these children opened up their gifts brought a smile to my face. This truly is what football is all about.

Regardless of the eventual winners; TIPS Coimbatore did sweep all the trophies, it has to be said, but putting that behind us, I can conclude that this event was a resounding success, as evidenced by the parent turnout, public reception and most importantly the look of satisfaction on the faces of the young players. The biggest takeaway is perhaps, regardless of who wins or loses, football brings together people of all backgrounds, economic statuses and regions to partake in an event the entire world can enjoy. For that single reason is why football is without a doubt the greatest sport on the planet.

CAS Activity-7 Journal (Day 3)

The final day of the Soccer Challenge by far was the busiest one. Almost all the matches of any significance were played today, with the trophy only being awarded very late into the night. It was a grueling day, but well worth it in the end!

CAS Activity-7 Journal (Day 2)

We continued to work as the intensity of the matches rose as did the amount being played, ultimately leading to a more hectic day for all the teams involved, especially the arrangements team.

CAS Activity-7 Journal (Day 1)

The first day of the annual Soccer Challenge hosted by our school was rather a quiet one. Only a small portion of the total matches were held today, making for light work. We were informed of our responsibilities beforehand, but actually performing them was something different altogether. My duty was to deliver the signed team sheet the match officials before kick-off and I soon became quite efficient at it.
