CAS Activity-2 Reflection
My class played two Indian games that stood the test of time, two games that epitomized what it means to be Indian and quite honestly, two games that were a whole lot of fun to take part in. What are these two games I've been rambling on about for the last few sentences you ask? 'Kho kho' and 'Kabbadi'.
Kabbadi
Kho kho
When it comes to Indian culture, I to a fault, am as ignorant as they come. It was met by a great deal of disappointment when it was announced to the class that we were going to deviate from playing soccer and basketball as we usually do on Friday afternoons, but instead were going to explore two of India's greatest pass-times, Kho kho and Kabbadi.
To my surprise I enjoyed playing these two sports more than I ever enjoyed playing soccer. I was a bit hesitant at first as the rules were foreign to me, but as I grew into the game my inner Kabbadi and Kho kho player truly made it's presence felt.
One difficulty I encountered was that we played both games on pavement, making for some gruesome cuts and bruises as we dragged each other to the ground in the ultra-physical Kabbadi. I needed a few ice packs after school to say least.
All in all, this experience culturally enriched my Indian sporting sense and taught me to never refuse anything before you try it, no matter how skeptical you may be, you never know when you may discover your next long-lost passion.
