CAS Activity-1 Reflection

Being involved in the Republic Day proceedings at the Indian Public School has vastly enriched my understanding of Indian history. I've lived in India for over two years now, but my comprehension of this famed nation's beginnings are sparse, and the valuable pieces of information I picked up at the event will stick with me for years to come. Each state had representatives from grades 1-5 to showcase it's best qualities and varied history. A few grade 7 students prepared a speech on India's roots, presenting me with a time line of the nation's independence from the British and the formation of the constitution.

Personally, my class's performance conceptually enlightened me on the history of Indian dance, as well as vastly strengthening my grasp of one of India's most critically acclaimed inventions, yoga. Yoga brings together one's body and soul so that they are in complete unison, in addition to provoking a sense of tranquility.

All in all the Republic day celebration at my school was a wonderful learning experience that will without a doubt provide me with a strong base regarding Indian culture.
